[kictanet] Kenya IGF 2011 List Discussions Day 4 Cloud Computing

Our ISP's are not quite in a position to survive the onslaught of the major
telco's (Safaricom etc). They should focus their energies on becoming
peering centers and hosting locations. Instead of the telco's investing in
DC's they can do that. Why don't we have one of these ISP's building up a
Xen based cloud (takes knowledge not $$)...
KPLC are to blame, but I guess we should simply figure out a way to work
without them. When they choose to deliver, well and good, if not, you are
prepared. We have been moaning about them for eons. They have proven they
can't change (blackouts are getting worse). Basically have a battery bank
and a set of generators. Safaricom figured this out with their far flung
base stations... Similar approach.
