Simon,
This is an alarming opinion. We can surely do better by establishing how telcos handle our data. We are not without law in this area. We actually have a draft bill on data protection developed as a pre emptive measure. Yet the penal code often holds brief before a substantive law is in place.

I still think that we put road blocks in our development path. Why will a telco misuse its customer data? If there is something you know in this respect, let us know and have it investigated. I do not think telcos are as careless as you have stated.

Regards

Ndemo.

 Mobile Payment Platforms

The mobile phone payments have become one of the most innovative ways
of linking people, virtually.
However, some insights here are worthy noticing:
1. The consumers' data is bound to be misused by the service
providers. Because no one is monitoring the use of the data kept by
the providers, it becomes imperative for the providers to employ
illegal measurements, which include disclosing subsriber's identity to
third parties, who might use them to carry out malice. We've heard
cases of subscribers being victims of fraud or threats. I can attest
to two of these cases.
2. With lack of data protection mechanism, no one really knows what
happens when such data is stored with service providers. Can such data
be disclosed after a certain period, so that it becomes public
accessible?

Indeed consumer needs to be protected from any incident that might
hinder proper usage of mobilebanking efficiently.
