>From an Operator I think as Walu says the industryt is young and also seems to attract the young people most.  But a BPO operator would be committing commercial suicide if the welfare of his/her employees is not given priority.  Since mostly we offer a service which is based on realtime interaction with humans and not machines welfare should be the most important business input.

On the gender issue as per attracting a proportionally fair spread in the workplace i feel this is not too much of a problem.  The problem comes in scheduling ladies to work on late shifts which might put their safety in jeopardy or might mean and need a compromise in other duties depending on particular cultural/social sensitivites.

All in all the BPO industry seems to be very silent on the youth and gender issues since usually these come into play during the maturity stages of any industry.
