I don't think it's a matter of privatization. It's more of a matter of
competence and prudent use of resources. it is absolutely absurd that a
strategic asset like an international airport does not have backups and
backups of those backups. Runway lights failing is simply unacceptable in
this day and age.
I was myself in coast when this fiasco occurred trying to get back from
Nairobi. I was told by some passengers on KQ that the plane flew all the way
to Nairobi and turned around at the airport to return to Mombasa.
Instead of buying Pasats why isn't something like ensuring world class
standards for JKIA & Moi prioritized?
Remember that JKIA is trying to secure status that will allow direct flights
to and from the US. With such occurences? I think not.
Who will take responsibility of this occurrence?
