Dear Robert - the CSK like all computer societies (IFIP) in the
world is happy to work with government departments as experts and
professionals when invited. So far far example we, together with
KIE, FKE, COTU, etc have helped to make a very good short
computer courses (applications) syllabus for the Ministry of
Labour for training under Industrial Training Act. All registered
computer trainers have this syllabus and employers refunds are
made on the basis of this syllabus. We circulated it to over 1100
accredited training centres in the country. The Society has not
received any request to give input or opinion on ICDL and in an
earlier mail on this topic I already addressed the issue of that
process.
Kind Regards,
Waudo

Noted Walu,
Thanks Dr. Ndemo for the update, I believe this is an opportunity
for the computer society and others to take up where you have
left off.
Waudo, ball is in your court don't go to sleep then blame the PS
when he decides to hand over the a foreign body.

Cool! If this is not eGovernance in practice then I do not know
what is....Yawe, you might agree that once in a while we must
acknowledge progress even as we await for the next opportunity
for tongue lashings...

Robert,
Indeeed I met with Mr. Nduguh of KASNEB today. Their syllabus is
for
those people who want to become technicians. I requested him to
seek
assistance from ICT fraternity to start a basic program, ICDL
type and
possibly call it KCDL. This will focus on people who simply want
to know
how to "Drive" the computer but not necessarily wanting to become
technicians. The ball now lies in their court or any other
accredited
institution wanting to provide the kind of examinations.
Regards
Ndemo.
