Dear Listers,

I was for one surprised to discover such a vibrant community on I.T in Kenya having been listed a few weeks ago. As a result I spend quite a huge chunk of my time nowadays sucking all that is discussed and researching including enlisting to join some key bodies.

KICTAnet is fairly unknown to others but has a wealth of information, expertise and ideas. Maybe a strategy to reposition it is due. I am aware that there is a push to have an industry body to represent I.T (one body) as was discussed in Connected Kenya ref KITOS post #140 Friday.

My humble views (given the relative experience shared here) is that we do need to have a conversation and decision on firming up one body that can lobby and represent the industry similar to the KAM.

Brian Longwe, Mike Macharia and Tej Bedi have more details including a possible policy document to be presented to the Ministry of Information.

Regards,

@Wash,

Maybe Delano is insinuating something. Perhaps KICTAnet
 needs to re-juvinate
and re-energize. Bring in new blood and thinking. What do we want from KICTAnet, 8yrs later? What management structures, membership structures, operational, financial structures do we want to see going forward?

Perhaps a brainstorming face2face session is due. I for one have been the moderator since inception and maybe someone else can do a better job and we just have not asked them to come forth. Think about it - I could have run out of ideas or some younger dot.commer may just be sitting on better ways of moderation that I have never imagined...

just my 2pings.

walu.
